Dog cookies naturally sweetened with pears. Cut these cookies however you want, using a small-sized heart-shaped cutter, it yields about 50 biscuits.

  • 1 1/4 cups oat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown rice flour
  • 1 cup carob chips (chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/4 cup carob powder
  • 1 tbs flax meal
  • 2 1/2 tbs water
  • 2/3 cup very ripe pear (peeled and blitzed to a puree)
  1. Preheat an oven to 180C (or 160C fan forced) and line two cookie trays with baking paper.
  2. Mix the flax meal with the water in medium bowl and allow to sit for about 5 minutes (or until thickened).
  3. Add in the remaining ingredients (except the pear) and stir to combine.
  4. Slowly add in the pear, until you get the consistency of a very firm dough.
  5. Dust a workbench and a rolling pin with some brown rice flour and roll out the cookie dough to about 1mm thick.
  6. Cut the cookie dough into shapes and place onto a baking tray (fairly close together, as they do not really expand much in the oven).
  7. Bake for approximately 15 minutes (or until lightly golden brown) then take out of the oven and set aside the cookies to cool on a wire rack.
